Nancy Evans, Close’s Executive Assistant, and Allison Palermo, her colleague, decided to forego a traditional gift exchange in favor of finding a way to “bring the joy of giving and receiving to others” by donating to a local charity.
The group reached out to the Community Center of Northern Westchester, a non-profit organization, where they were informed of the numerous families in need during the financially difficult holiday season.
Together, Close, Evans and Palermo collected donations from friends, family members, neighbors, local celebrities and business owners to help bring the holidays to life for seven lucky families, raising a total of $3,000.
With the donations, the trio was able to purchase gifts and gift cards from each of the families’ wish lists by working with retailers like Target, Kohl’s and TJ Maxx.
“Thanks to Glenn, Nancy, Allison, Cody and the local businesses, celebrities and neighbors who donated, seven of our families were able to have a holiday that they never thought they would be able to have, full of gifts and the feeling of love and support from the local community,” said Community Center of Northern Westchester officials in a press release. “The neighbors helping neighbors team hopes to reach even more families next year.”
